Retro Viners Silver Rose Eight Person Cutlery Canteen in Teak and Walnut Cabinet
Viners Silver Rose Cutlery Set. This is a eight person stainless steel cutlery set or canteen in the'Silver Rose' pattern by Viners and probably dating from the 1960s or thereabouts. The cutlery comes in a teak and walnut veneered lidded canteen box on removable splayed wooden legs with red and light grey fabric linings to the interior. Approximate overall dimensions are 57cm (22.5") in width, 35.5cm (14") in depth and 69cm (27.25) in height.
The cutlery set is for eight people or settings and has a total of 87 items. These include 24 knives, 24 forks, and 32 spoons of varying shapes and sizes as well as two larger table or serving spoons and two further similar sized spoons with more rounded bowls.There is also a large carving knife and fork and a knife sharpener. The canteen storage box is generally in good condition with no structural damage but does have a few signs of wear. There is a small area to the front right-hand side of the box where the veneer had begun to lift however this has now been re-glued and is not particularly noticeable as shown in the thirteenth and fourteenth photos below.
There are also a few other marks or scratches to the wood as illustrated in the close up photos below. The cutlery items are all intact and perfectly useabe but do have various marks and scratches from previous usage. There are also some marks and stains to the lining of the canteen box. The legs will be removed for posting but are fairly easy to re-attach with the wing nuts supplied.
