After the death of George Howson in 1847, the businesss was acquired by George's son William Howson together with James & Henry Harrison. The two Harrison brothers continued expanding the firm, receiving Royal warrants from both Queen Victoria and King Edward VIII, but by the end of the century most of the Harrisons had passed on. The Howson Family then took over the firm and George Howson, son of Wiliam, who had become a partner in 1875 took lead. He became a master Cutler in 1893 and in 1896 the company registered a new silver mark'GH'. The company had offices in New York, San Francisco and London.
The wording on the blade of the ks is'Made in England (with Coronet) Harrison Bros & Howson, cutlers to his late Majesty King George VI. The wording on the Forks is simply'Stainless, Made in England'. Due to the wording, it can be presumed that this set was made in the year or shortly after the death of King George VI who died in 1952, but before the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II who came to the throne also in 1952. Therefore one assumes that this set can be dated to circa 1952 for this reason! An original vintage 12 Piece Cutlery Set in original Box, as described above and shown in photos.
